You have probably seen on our own BenB’s blog that his adorable dog is in a competition.
What the fuck good are we, if not to help him WIN?
Ben has sweetly offered to share his winnings with KCL, against our proclamation that he will do nothing of the sort.
But, that looks like a helluva dog, and I love dogs, so please, follow the link that Ben will provide and vote for his boy!
You MUST follow through and enter your email addy–I didn’t realize that until recently and feel like a big tool because I’ve been voting but they probably didn’t count.
Here’s to ya, Duke!!!
He’s got MY vote!
Keep your earnings, Ben. I’ll get a big ol kick out of seeing your boy win.
Instead, save the dough for the healthcare you will surely need after Obama’s plan goes into action.

Several years ago, my uncle and I had a debate about whether poor people seemed to be more overweight because they simply CHOSE to eat unhealthy food, or if they simply could not AFFORD good stuff.
He felt that it was a matter of lifestyle and ignorance.
I disagreed, and told him that healthy food is very much more expensive than crap. He is very wealthy, and probably couldn’t remember not being able to afford anything he wanted, but I sure as shit know how it feels.
If you have ten bucks to spend on groceries, what are you gonna buy? A nice salmon fillet and some fresh asparagus, that will feed ONE person, ONE meal? Or, are you gonna buy a pack of hot dogs and some ramen noodles? More bang for your buck, so to speak.
I can totally tell a difference in my shopping when we are low on cash. Where I might normally GET the fresh asparagus and a whole beef tenderloin, if we are broke I will buy those cheap Totino’s pizzas and Lipton Rice and Sauce. I’ll get iceberg instead of romaine lettuce. We usually have frozen chicken breasts, but if not, I’ll get a bag of chicken nuggets. I KNOW it isn’t as healthy, but on a budget, you gotta get what you can afford.
I am certainly not saying that ALL poor people are overweight, or that all overweight people are heavy only because they make bad choices. I’m just sayin that in a lot of cases, a hundred bucks will buy you a LOT of hot dogs, but not a lot of salmon and fresh vegetables.
What do you think?
